Fashions may come and go, but when it comes to women’s Halloween costumes, certain fashion rules will always apply. Women want to dress up and step into another personality but still look adorable. Ugly costumes don’t usually show up on Top 10 lists. So it’s no surprise that these ten most popular costumes for women include some of the most flirty and fun outfits ever. You can either choose to make them or buy them depending on your sewing skills and free time.

The Queen of Hearts

Everyone loves to hate the Queen from Alice in Wonderland. But this year’s Johnny Depp version of the movie has made the Red Queen’s costume lovely and fashionable again. Now you can shout, “Off with their heads!” while looking like royalty.

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader

For some reason, women never tire of this outfit. It’s always a Halloween staple and this year it’s hotter than ever. If you’ve got the body for it, go in for this skimpy little costume if you dare. Skip it if you can’t imagine Trick or Treating with your bellybutton exposed.

The Fairy Princess

Step into dream land and arrive as a Fairy Princess. Do it up in pink and sparkles. A nice pair of shiny heels and a twinkling wand will make everyone’s dreams come true. It’s your big night for glamour and beauty. Go around granting wishes.

Tinkerbell

She’s never fallen out of fashion. The green-clad pixie is hot this year perhaps due to the arrival of the new Tinkerbell movies. Step out and spread some pixie dust of your own and see what happens. Enjoy being a sprite without a care even if it’s just for one night.

The Medieval Maiden

Renaissance wear shows up every Halloween and for good reason. It’s a fun and classic costume that lets you still look like an adult. Imagine yourself the mistress of the castle and take charge of the evening.

The Schoolgirl

Bring out the knee socks and school uniform. The private school coed is in fashion this year. Do it up with pony tails and see who comes to carry your schoolbooks. Head to a school uniform shop to get everything you need for this tantalizing costume. You will be turning heads and everyone will give you their holiday gifts in this costume!

The Angel

Float into the party with a flowing white robe and gossamer wings. Your golden halo and wings will make you the most beautiful vision in a night of ghouls. You’ll have everyone at the party wondering if Heaven is indeed missing an angel.

Cat Woman

Even if you don’t look a thing like Halle Berry, you’ll still be a favorite at the festivities in a cat woman suit. Sleek and sophisticated, you can conceal your identity behind a mask.

1920s Flapper

Everything old is new again. Glamour makes a comeback with this version of the debutantes of yesteryear. Wear a long strand of pearls, a feather in your hair and a fringed dress. Charleston the night away in style.

I Love Lucy

Everyone loves Lucy. Go as the favorite TV redhead. Don a wig and a polka dot dress with an apron. 1950s dress up has never been more fun. Bring along a Ricky Ricardo if you’re going with your spouse.

Fun ideas! One year I went all out to make a costume like the Orbitz girl - "Dirty mouth? clean it up! Fabulous!" It seems like there are always a lot of flapper costumes every year. It's fun and cute! Great hub!

Just saw Midnight in Paris (which I loved) that was set in the 1920's so the flapper costume is right up my alley this year. Great list of ideas.
